Douglas Fast Net

DOUGLAS FAST NET

In 2001, the only provider of broadband in the area was having difficulty providing enough bandwidth to local businesses, schools, and the local medical providers. As a result, Douglas Electric Cooperative (DEC) members were not getting the level of service that those in the more urban areas with high speed internet were able to access. DEC’s board and management staff were forward thinking enough to see the possibilities that high-speed internet would bring to the community and recognized that its members would be better served if the County seat had high speed internet at affordable prices, so they started Douglas Fast Net (DFN). What started out as a fiber loop around Roseburg to connect emergency services, medical providers, local government, and educators has branched out to cover large portions of Douglas County and is growing into Lane and Coos counties. Currently, 50% of DEC members have Internet or phone service through DFN and the number is growing every day.  Douglas County Fire District #2, the State of Oregon, Mercy Medical Center, Umpqua Community College, nine city governments, thirteen school districts, and countless medical facilities are just some of the services that our members utilize that now have high speed Internet because of DFN.

To see if DFN is available in your area call (541) 673-4242 or click here to be directed to their website for more information.
